On 11th January 2023, Wednesday, Ashton participated in his first-ever midget race. Everything was going well when suddenly it wasn’t. On the eleventh lap of his debut midget race, he and another participant were battling for a corner when a shocking incident happened. Torgerson was at the eighth rank when he suffered a major car crash.

According to the media and the reports, Ashton’s car slammed into a wall before it flipped numerous times. As soon as that happened, it was like a big shock for everyone present there. Thankfully, the other racers were able to avoid hitting him. Soon, the sixteen-year-old driver was quickly taken to the hospital by paramedics and given immediate medical attention.

Ashton was finally hospitalized in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Wednesday. Before being hospitalized, Torgerson was seen having a good time and communicating with the officials. There were also a lot of tweets from the Chili Bowl Nationals.

According to current reports from the hospital itself, the doctors are saying that he is alert and he can move his hands and toes. This is an excellent sign. However, one complicated thing is that he is suffering from a little bleeding inside his brain. Hence, his situation is being very closely monitored by doctors.
